Preparing a Complex Mobility Network for the Future

Tectum Group is a leading player in the construction sector, where mobility plays an essential role in day-to-day operations. With fifteen sites and a fleet of 135 vehicles, commuting, customer visits and operational travel have a significant impact on both costs and the environment. Furthermore, the stricter Flemish targets set out in the Clean Power for Transport 2030 action plan made it clear that a forward-looking mobility strategy could no longer be postponed.

Although Tectum was determined to reduce its CO₂ emissions and accelerate the transition to electric mobility, it faced a complex reality: each site had a different energy profile, varying infrastructure and diverse charging requirements. Without a thorough analysis and a technically sound plan, the electrification process risked delays, while investments could prove difficult to scale and optimise cost-effectively.

A Feasibility Study Bringing Together Strategy, Energy and Mobility

To ensure the transition was on the right track, Encon was commissioned by Tectum to carry out a comprehensive feasibility study. We examined the total energy consumption at each site, analysed the capacity of the existing installations and calculated the future energy profile following the integration of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure.

Based on this data, we modelled various charging strategies, identified the most suitable charging solutions from both a technical and operational perspective, and mapped out concrete scenarios for each location—from sites where implementation could begin immediately to those requiring infrastructure upgrades or smart charging schedules.

This integrated approach provided Tectum with not only clarity but also direction: a scalable, realistic and economically sound roadmap towards the full electrification of its fleet.

Efficient and Feasible Electrification Across 15 Sites

The results were concrete and action-oriented. Nine of the fifteen sites were found to be fully ready for the immediate installation of charging points without any modifications. Two locations required limited upgrades or more flexible charging schedules, while four sites needed infrastructure expansion to support a fully electric fleet.

Thanks to these insights, Tectum now knows exactly where to start, where to invest and how to scale its electrification efforts step by step without operational risks. The transition also strengthens the Flemish charging network, encourages the adoption of sustainable mobility solutions and sets a strong example for both employees and customers.
