A unique opportunity for SMEs to save energy
Make your business more energy-efficient with support from the EENergy project.
Sustainability and energy efficiency are becoming increasingly important for businesses. Fortunately, there are initiatives that support SMEs in taking steps in the right direction. One such initiative is the EENergy project, funded by the EU’s Single Market Programme (SMP). This project helps SMEs to identify their energy efficiency needs and draw up an action plan, with the possibility of receiving up to €10,000 in funding.

What does the EENergy project involve?
The aim of the EENergy project is to help at least 1,800 SMEs to define and implement an action plan that improves their energy efficiency by at least 5%. The grant can be used both for investments in energy-efficient technologies and for consultancy services that help businesses optimise their energy consumption.
Which projects are eligible?
Support from EENergy focuses on two categories:
- Investment projects: SMEs can receive grants for the purchase and installation of renewable energy systems, such as solar panels, wind turbines, inverters and battery systems.
- Consultancy projects: Carrying out an energy audit to identify potential savings and implementing an action that leads to at least 5% energy savings.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible for this grant, your company must meet the following criteria:
- Your company is an SME (<250 employees, <€50 million turnover and <€43 million balance sheet total).
- Your company has not previously participated in the first grant round of the EENergy project.
In addition, the following conditions apply:
- The grant amounts to 100% of the project costs up to a maximum of €10,000.
- The initiative must result in at least a 5% energy saving.
- Selection is made via a lottery with a success rate of approximately 50%.
- Submission deadline: 28 February 2025.
- The investment may only take place after the grant agreement has been signed (May 2025). Quotations can be requested in advance, but the final purchase order and payment must wait a little longer.
What is the timeline?
- Step 1 (12/02/2024 – 28/02/2025): Submission of the project to the EEN sustainability advisor (in Flanders, this is a Vlaio advisor). A brief meeting will follow to prepare the application.
- Step 2 (28/02/2025 – mid-May): The submitted plans are assessed and grants are awarded.
- Step 3 (from mid-May 2025): Implementation of the project.
