Encon and Firestone join forces to promote sustainability
Smart entrepreneurs and managers regard sustainability as ‘the new frontier of innovation’. After all, embracing sustainability drives organisational and technological innovation on the one hand, and fosters a credible sustainable image among customers, employees and other stakeholders on the other. In this way, sustainability itself becomes a driver of sustainable growth for businesses. And as with all positive developments, progress towards sustainability is achieved more quickly and effectively through collaboration.

As a sustainability expert, Encon didn’t want to simply construct just any office building. From the outset, the ‘Infinity’ project aimed to become one of the most sustainable buildings in Europe: a laboratory proving that living, thinking and working sustainably is the future. To realise Infinity, Encon therefore gathered the right partners around them and sought out materials whose properties reflected Encon’s vision.
Firestone played a pivotal role in this project in realising these sustainability ambitions. In their search for the most sustainable materials, the architects turned to Firestone’s EPDM roofing system. Thanks to this product, Encon succeeded in achieving a high score on the BREEAM sustainability criteria, proof that it is one of the most sustainable office buildings in Europe.
The fruitful collaboration between Firestone and Encon led Firestone, in turn, to consult Encon as a sustainability expert to make its product range even more sustainable through product analyses. The results of this are now being further developed to increase Firestone’s market share. Their range of sustainable products ensures they are at the forefront, particularly for buildings seeking BREEAM and LEED sustainability certifications.
A fine example of how synergy between companies can help them further in their respective sustainability transitions, and an illustration of our motto: DELIVERING PROFITABLE SUSTAINABILITY!
