Wind energy is a sustainable and green form of energy generation. But how do you ensure that a wind project also takes into account the interests of all stakeholders?
That is the challenge we at Encon, as an independent consultancy specialising in sustainability, face in supporting the wind project at Genk-Zuid.
Genk-Zuid is an industrial zone in the Belgian province of Limburg, where various companies operate in sectors such as logistics, chemicals and metals. These companies have significant energy requirements, but also wish to reduce their carbon footprint. That is why, together with Encon, they have developed a plan to install 14 new wind turbines in the zone. The result is a wind project that is not only sustainable in terms of energy, but also in terms of public support, by taking all stakeholders into account.
