From obligation to benefit: your path to ISO 50001
From 2027, companies with high energy consumption will be subject to a key requirement: the implementation and certification of an ISO 50001 Energy Management System (EnMS). Encon will guide you through this process step by step, ensuring that you not only comply with the legislation but also benefit from more efficient energy management.

Who is subject to this requirement?
Organisations with an average energy consumption of more than 85 TJ over the past three years are subject to this requirement. This corresponds to approximately:
- 23.6 GWh of electricity
- 26.1 GWh of natural gas
(in practice, often a combination of both).
Deadline: 11 October 2027. Allow for a preparation period of approximately one year.
What does ISO 50001 entail?
ISO 50001 helps companies to systematically manage and continuously improve their energy performance. With independent certification, you demonstrate that you operate in an energy-efficient manner.
Benefits:
- Lower energy costs
- Improved energy efficiency
- Demonstrable contribution to sustainability goals
- International recognition
