SPRYG – Logistics & Real Estate 2023

On 28 February, Robin Bruninx (CEO) and Steve Van den Brand (Green Building Business Manager) attended the SPRYG event on sustainable logistics and property to discuss the sustainability of the property sector.

Is sustainability in logistics and property about labels or about action?

At Encon, we believe that a label is part of a bigger picture and a means of strengthening a company’s operations. Property companies must take concrete steps to integrate sustainability into their business operations. What does this mean?

Today, the impact of environmental and social challenges on businesses is becoming increasingly clear. As a result, the importance of stakeholder management has grown significantly. Consequently, the call for sustainable business practices is becoming ever louder and more urgent from various quarters.

This also means that a label is not an end in itself but a means of, for example, communicating results to stakeholders. Sustainability is about balancing environmental, social and economic aspects and creates a win-win situation where what is good for the world is also good for businesses.

The bottom line is that even without a label, you can run a business that is just as sustainable as one with a label; the label simply serves to highlight your efforts.

Robin Bruninx shared his perspectives on ESG, integrated sustainability and circular construction for large-scale property projects during the SPRYG event.
